The MOD is represented by the Doing Business with Defence Team - helping suppliers access opportunities and innovation in the Defence supply chain.

From the procurement of clothes to carriers, food to fighter jets, we ensure our UK military customers – the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force – have the equipment and support they need to carry out their duties effectively. We also manage the recruitment for our sister organisation – the Submarine Delivery Agency.

The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) brings strategic advantage to UK defence and security through science and technology.

Dstl is the Ministry of Defence (MOD)’s science and technology organisation, working collaboratively with our partners in industry, academia and internationally, to provide unique expertise, specialist advice and to deliver battle-winning solutions for the benefit of the nation and allies.
We sustain and grow science and technology capabilities that must remain in government (the UK’s sovereign capabilities), and help develop capabilities that are managed elsewhere, for example, in industry and academia.

Dstl acts as a trusted interface between MOD, wider government, the private sector and academia to help to solve defence and security challenges.

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) finds and funds exploitable innovations which support defence and security faster and more effectively, and seeks to generate economic value for the UK. We are part of the Defence Innovation Directorate in the Ministry of Defence and are co-located with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down. Our vision is for the UK to maintain its strategic advantage over its adversaries through the most innovative defence and security capabilities in the world. We have learned that by reaching out to innovators across the UK and beyond we can encourage and support the brightest and best to put forward feasible ideas to solve our problems. Our refreshed strategy for 2021-2024 builds on our learning as we continue to strengthen and broaden links to innovators across the UK and elsewhere.

DIO plays a vital role in supporting the UK’s Armed Forces by building, maintaining and servicing the infrastructure needed to support defence, and is responsible for enabling defence people to live, work, train and deploy at home and overseas.

UK Defence and Security Exports (UKDSE) is part of the Department for Business and Trade. UKDSE supports UK defence, physical security and cyber security companies to export products, technology, and services. We also help unlock high-value and strategic inward investments in these industries across the whole of the UK. As part of this, we provide specialist export advice and practical assistance, working closely with industry and other government departments including the Ministry of Defence, the Home Office and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as well as government agencies UK Export Finance and Export Control Joint Unit.

The RAF and UK Space Command work with allies and partners around the world to watch our skies, respond to threats, prevent conflict, and make space a safe, secure and sustainable for all generations.

Here at Air Commercial we deliver commercial solutions to both Commands in order to ensure they are ready and able to defend us today, tomorrow and the future and are the only function authorised to contractually commit the department. We are always looking for innovative, agile and creative options which support combatting potential threats in an uncertain world.
