The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) has developed a new digital messaging standard designed to dramatically accelerate how military forces detect, identify and engage targets on the battlefield – and is preparing to release it to industry next month. AIM – Assured Intent Messaging – enables sensors, uncrewed platforms, weapons systems and command tools from different manufacturers to communicate using a common language, collapsing the time between spotting a threat and acting on it.
