HMS Agamemnon, the sixth Astute Class attack submarine built by BAE Systems at Barrow-in-Furness, has departed the shipyard to begin sea trials ahead of entering service with the Royal Navy. The departure marks a significant milestone in the UK’s submarine industrial programme, backed by £47 billion in defence investment over the next four years. HMS Agamemnon left BAE Systems’ Barrow-in-Furness facility in September 2026 and has now entered the sea trials phase.
