Britain expects workforce demand across its Defence Nuclear Enterprise to reach around 65,000 by 2030, up from an estimated 47,600 jobs currently supported by the sector. The expansion will underpin simultaneous investment in submarines, nuclear warheads, reactor technology, fuels and supporting infrastructure. Workforce expansion targets The government and its industrial partners aim to double defence nuclear apprentice and graduate intakes to build the required workforce. The National Nuclear Strategic Plan for Skills targets 22,000 apprenticeships and 9,000 graduate positions over the next decade.
